Rimon PC Strengthens Intellectual Property Bench and Launches Japan Practice with McDermott, Will & Emery Attorneys

Northern Virginia – Rimon PC is pleased to announce that Japan and intellectual property focused partners Takashi Saito, Tomoki Tanida and Michael Fogarty have joined the firm. The three attorneys come from McDermott, Will & Emery.

The move is an exciting development in Rimon’s international program, with the firm officially launching a Japan practice to advise and represent Japanese companies in cross-border matters.

The group of partners will also further strength Rimon’s already large and robust Intellectual Property and Patent Prosecution practice.

“Having a strong cadre of attorneys with deep experience representing Japanese companies in international matters is an integral part of our international growth strategy and we are looking forward to offering our model to clients in this market,” said Rimon Managing Partner, Juan Zúñiga. “In addition to Takashi, Tomoki and Michael, we have intellectual property partner Eric Kirsch based in Tokyo, and corporate partners David Case and Harold Nathan who have both lived in Japan for many years and work with Japanese companies.”

“I am excited to work with Saito-san, Tanida-san and Michael”, said Rimon Partner David Case.  “We have many common friends, former colleagues and clients.  Their joining Rimon is like a homecoming for me.”

Tokyo based Partner Eric Kirsch echoed Zúñiga’s sentiments on Japan: “The new partners are a great addition to the firm that will strengthen our ties to Japan and strengthen our Japan practice.  I am really looking forward to the synergies and opportunities our new IP partners will bring to Rimon.”

It has been a big few months of growth for Rimon, with the firm recently announcing the acquisition of Intellectual Property boutique, Davidson, Berquist, Jackson and Gowdey, as well as a business combination with Silverman Acampora. “It has been a year of record growth for Rimon, despite economic uncertainty in the market,” said Chief Legal and Growth Officer T.J. Henry. Rimon recruited over 50 attorneys in 2023 to date, and now has a global headcount of over 215 attorneys.

The McDermott group of attorneys were attracted to Rimon for its innovative model of practicing law. Takashi Saito commented, “After considering various traditional law firms, we found that Rimon is the best place to provide more client-oriented services with great flexibility.”
