Asia – Rimon Law is pleased to announce the arrival of Partner, Troy Doyle based out of Singapore.

One of the most decorated restructuring lawyers in Asia, Troy joins the firm from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he was Co-Chair of the firm’s Business and Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group, and head of the Group for Asia.

Troy consistently receives the highest accolades for Restructuring & Insolvency in the leading legal publications, including in the most recent editions of Chambers Asia-Pacific (2024) and The Legal 500 (2024) in which he has held such rankings for 15 consecutive years.

Troy’s global practice involves restructuring and insolvency matters spanning the Asia Pacific region, including in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Greater China, Vietnam, and Australia.  He also has extensive experience in the United States and United Kingdom. Troy has had an illustrious career to date, having practiced law in the Asia-Pacific area for over 24 years and having restructured over US$62.9 billion of debt and equity in this time.

“We are beyond excited to have Troy onboard,” said Rimon Managing Partner, Juan Zúñiga. “Troy has a truly remarkable background and will lead our Restructuring and Insolvency practice into the Asia-Pacific region and Chair a Global Restructuring Group. We are very excited about the future.”

Troy was attracted to Rimon due to the firm’s innovative model and flexible fee structure. Rimon is a highly selective firm which has rejected entrenched industry norms like the billable hour, dated hierarchical structures, and management-controlled client fees which waste time and money for lawyers and clients. The firm offers a Partner-focused model, where clients can be assured that work will be completed by experienced partners, instead of expensive associates.

On his move, Troy said: “We routinely assist our clients to restructure their businesses to align with the demands of the market, and, in that vein, I have restructured my own legal offering following extensive client consultation.

This consultation with clients highlighted three key demands: (i) true flexible fee structures which align with each bespoke restructuring process (and most importantly remove hourly billing and incorporate success fees) and offered on a global basis, (ii) continuous experienced partner involvement and guidance in the process with the removal of excessive mid-level lawyer fees, and (iii) seamless global connectivity between an equal calibre of Partners who have worked together, across Asia, the US and the UK.

Client’s during the interview process espoused the virtues of Rimon given their experience with the firm and particularly its Partners in the US; as all three of the key client demands are the premise of Rimon’s model.

At Rimon, creative and flexible fee structures are the starting point and not a negotiation; with certainty on fees in a restructuring being paramount.
