James Chapman joins Rimon, P.C. as partner in its Palo Alto office. Mr. Chapman focuses his practice on securities law, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. He counsels publicly traded and privately held clients on public offerings, private placements, debt financings, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and related transactions. Mr. Chapman also represents venture capital firms, angels, and private equity groups in their investments.

With more than 30 years of experience in corporate and securities law, he has assisted with over 300 mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions. He recently represented Financial Navigator, Inc. in its sale to Asset Vantage, and A-1 Machine Manufacturing in the sale of a 49% interest to Graycliff Partners.

Since 2000, Mr. Chapman has counseled clients, from the media to pharmaceutical industries, on numerous China-United States transactions and matters. His international transactions work includes assisting Chinese companies in both investing and raising capital in the United States. Mr. Chapman also assists U.S. firms in investing and operating in China and has been involved in resolving some of the most high-profile disputes involving U.S. companies in China.

Prior to joining Rimon, Mr. Chapman was partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Previous to that tenure, he served as manager at Foley Ventures LLC and was a partner at Foley & Lardner, LLP before that time.

At Rimon, Mr. Chapman joins Rimon’s growing China Practice that includes partners Letao Qin in New York, Chris Terry in San Francisco, and Robert Q. Lee in Miami, as well as a growing Venture Capital team that includes partners Dror Futter in New York, Frank Vargas in Palo Alto, Tim Gladden in New York, and Carl Sherer in Israel.

Mr. Chapman received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, his M.B.A. from Santa Clara University, Leavey School of Business and his B.A. from Catholic University of America.
