Silicon Valley — Adding to its fast-growing Intellectual Property (IP) team, Rimon Law welcomes Dr. Steven Colby and Robert Hayden as Partners in its Menlo Park Office.
They will be joining from Royse Law where Dr. Colby was Director of IP Strategies and Mr. Hayden was Counsel.
“With companies recognizing the overwhelming importance of protecting their intellectual property and patents, it is critical for law firms to have teams of top attorneys who can assist business leaders in defending what may be their most valuable assets. Steven and Robert have proven their experience and skill in crafting intellectual property strategies and handling patent prosecutions for leading technology, medical device, and scientific instrument companies,” said Michael Moradzadeh, CEO of Rimon.
Dr. Colby has over 40 published scientific papers and abstracts and holds several patents. Prior to becoming a patent attorney, he was director of product development for a scientific instrument company. His professional background extends to software and hardware development, website development, manufacturing management, electronics, sensors, measurement devices, control systems, mass spectrometry, chromatography, and bioanalysis.
Mr. Hayden is a patent attorney specializing in medical devices, materials, and processes, particularly as they relate to semiconductors, LEDs, and disk drives, as well as clean tech, robotics, AgTech, and consumer devices. Robert regularly prepares and prosecutes patent applications for established corporations and start-ups, advises on portfolio development, and prepares opinion letters.
“Steven and Robert join Rimon’s growing patent prosecution and IP litigation team in Silicon Valley, which includes Karienh Khachatourian, Amir A. Tabarrok, Dr. David T. Xue, Zheng Liu, and Matthew Poppe. We are very happy to welcome them to our expanded team,” said Mr. Moradzadeh. “They will also work closely with the rest of our much larger IP team worldwide.”
“We are very excited about how Rimon will allow us to expand our services to our clients,” said Dr. Colby. “We’ll be able to provide ‘big firm’ service at a ‘small firm’ price.”
Dr. Colby received his J.D. from Santa Clara University, a Ph.D. from Indiana University where he focused on the development and design of scientific instruments, and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
