San Diego- Continuing to expand the firm’s Intellectual Property team, Rimon Law has added David Devernoe, who has served as both an in-house and outside counsel for a host of IP focused Life Science and Medical Technology companies, as Partner in its San Diego Office.

Mr. Devernoe joins Rimon from Troutman Sanders, where he also was Partner. Mr. Devernoe had previously worked as senior patent counsel for Hologic (NASDQ: HOLX), a medical technology company.

Mr. Devernoe focuses on providing a business-level understanding of his client’s patent needs. His extensive experience includes advising companies from start-ups to multi-national organizations. He has significant experience in all areas of health and medicine, including medical diagnostics, digital health, additive manufacture and 3-D printing, medical devices and AR/VR software and devices, near-eye displays and imaging/optical technologies, smart garments, compression garments, health and beauty, food prep and catering, athletic equipment, nutraceuticals, machine learning software and devices, nucleic acid sequencing, bioinformatics and data translation, antibody products and targets, immunology-focused technologies, CART-T targets and therapy, consumer devices and services, and information technology.

He has also served as a guest lecturer at the University of San Diego School of Law on the topic of Intellectual Property in Corporate Transactions.

At Rimon, Mr. Devernoe brings his IP experience to a booming IP team, which grew by 12 attorneys this year alone, including fellow life science patent prosecution Partners Peng Chen in San Diego and Justin Zahrt in Silicon Valley. The IP team focuses on helping clients not only protect their IP assets but also on how best to develop and maximize the value of those assets to advance business interests. With Rimon’s decentralized business model, Mr. Devernoe will be able to customize his practice to the needs of each of his clients with the highest efficiency.

Mr. Devernoe earned a J.D. from Case Western University where he was Publisher and Associate Editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review. While at the Law Review, he authored an article on genetically modified foods that was awarded Note of the Year by the American Agricultural Law Association. He received his B.S. from Union College.
