Bernays “Buz” Barclay Joins Rimon P.C.‘s Corporate Group in New York

New York, NY – Jan. 9, 2012 – Rimon P.C., an international corporate law firm, announced today that Bernays “Buz” Barclay has joined its New York office as a Partner. Mr. Barclay brings to Rimon new energy and infrastructure transactions capacity and experience to Rimon’s growing New York presence, and will augment the Firm’s Startups and Startup Financing Group and its Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

Mr. Barclay has been an energy and power industry associate at Chadbourne & Parke LLP and a partner of Porter & Travers LLP, King & Spalding LLP, and Torys LLP. During that time he left law practice for four years to help lead the Project Finance Group of Citibank N.A. Buz has published numerous power industry-related legal and business articles and Chairs some of the leading conferences of the US power industry each year. Buz joins Rimon from Dickstein Shapiro LLP, where he was a partner in the Energy Group.

Since 1999 Mr. Barclay has committed a substantial portion of his practice to working with emerging growth companies and their investors with cleantech, greentech and other environmentally sustainable business models, and to project development and finance in virtually all of the renewable energy technology categories. He has co-founded and served as a Director of several energy-related companies. He also hosts the Energy & Environmental Funders Forum of the New York Center for Economic Environmental Partnership.

Recently, Mr. Barclay has assisted a carbon nanotech startup in negotiating critical venture agreements,  advised an independent power transmission project in acquiring development funding and resolving commercial and governance issues, helped develop funding, marketing and sales strategies for a start-up compressed air energy storage company, negotiated and closed the monetization of a 42 megawatt solar photovoltaic project portfolio, advised a US private equity firm in the C$1.7 Billion acquisition of a publicly held Canadian infrastructure income trust, led the U.S. legal team for a Canadian independent power company in acquiring four Northeastern gas fired power projects, and negotiated and drafted power purchase agreements and engineering, procurement and construction agreements for wind and solar projects.

In addition to his partnership with Rimon, Mr. Barclay is a Managing Director in the New York office of Marathon Capital, LLC, an investment bank specializing in energy and infrastructure project financing, raising capital, and corporate and asset sales, especially in renewable energy industries. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he received an M.B.A. from Michigan State University and his L.L.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. Mr. Barclay has also served as an officer in the United States Army.
