News July 2, 2015

The ABA has appointed Rimon partner, Pamela Marie Egan, to a two-year term as the Co-Chair of the Russian Eurasian Law Committee of the American Bar Association, Section of International Law, effective, August 2015.

Ms. Egan belongs to Rimon’s stellar Corporate, Financial Services, and Litigation teams, specializing in bankruptcy, restructuring, and dispute resolution, locally, regionally, and internationally. She successfully represents domestic, multinational and Russian companies in investment, commercial, and post-M&A disputes. She speaks Russian fluently.

Ms. Egan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law Business and the Economy at UC Berkeley, Berkeley School of Law where she is spearheading an investigation into legal obstacles to innovation in Russia. She transformed a volunteer project with the Innovation Working Group of the US-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission into an in-depth survey of Russian investors, entrepreneurs and academics in five Russian cities. The Moscow Times, a major Russian newspaper, recently published her OpEd piece regarding the offshoring of Russian business disputes to American federal court, which can be read here.

Ms. Egan holds a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ of AV Preeminent® rating, the highest rating for professional ethics and legal ability by an attorney’s peers. Fewer than 8% of attorneys have earned this rating.

“I am truly honored to Co-Chair the Russian Eurasian Law Committee of the ABA Section of International Law,” said Ms. Egan. “During this time of geopolitical tension, it will take a deft touch and commitment to develop and maintain relationships between the ABA and our professional peers in Russia. I am looking forward to the challenge.”

The ABA’s Section of International Law promotes interest, activity, and research in international and comparative law, supports professional relationships with lawyers similarly engaged in foreign countries, and implements Goal IV of the ABA, which is “to advance the rule of law in the world.” The International Law Section has some 22,000 members in more than 90 countries.
