Zeta Beta Tau honors Rimon Partner Stephen Trachtenberg with 2016 Man of the Year Award

Zeta Beta Tau, the world’s first Jewish fraternity, has announced that Rimon Partner Stephen Joel Trachtenberg has been named the 2016 Man of the Year.

ZBT’s Man of the Year award honors those brothers who stand forth above other brothers and fellow citizens in living the Credo and honoring ZBT’s Ritual from a position of leadership and service. These brothers serve as role models for members of Zeta Beta Tau and American society in general.

Mr. Trachtenberg, who is also President Emeritus of the George Washington University, will be honored at Zeta Beta Tau’s 2016 International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, at Zeta Beta Tau’s Grand Awards Banquet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016.

“I’m honored to receive this award; it is a symbol of my commitment to the world of higher education, Columbia College and, of course, to Zeta Beta Tau,” Mr. Trachtenberg said.

Before joining Rimon, Mr. Trachtenberg served as the 15th president of The George Washington University for nearly two decades. He previously was president of the University of Hartford for 11 years. He also held positions as Vice President for academic services and Academic Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Boston University, and was the Special Assistant to the U.S. Education Commissioner, Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Earlier, in Washington, D.C., he was a special assistant for two years to the U.S. Education Commissioner, Department of Health, Education and Welfare. He has been an attorney with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and a legislative aide to former Indiana Congressman John Brademas.
