Michael Gustafson

Michael Gustafson (Mike) is a London-based finance lawyer specialising in cross-border debt private placements and mid-market private credit.  He advises asset managers, institutional investors and credit funds on a wide range of complex debt transactions, including syndicated, club and bilateral private placements, direct lending, mezanine and structured equity transactions, preferred equity investments and special sits financings. Mike also has experience in house as legal counsel within a prominent private capital provider, as well as at large law firms including Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and Milbank LLP.

Mike has a global practice, with experience in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. He is admitted in New York and California and is a registered foreign lawyer in England & Wales.

• acting for a global asset manager on its direct lending, mezzanine and structured equity transactions across the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand
• representing a European middle-market fund in connection with its debt and preferred equity investments in various UK and European companies

• acting for the purchasers on syndicated, club and bilateral private placements by corporate issuers across the UK and Europe
• acting for the purchasers on debt private placements by various UK and European regulated utilities (including both unsecured issuances and notes issued off of whole business securitization platforms)
• acting for the purchasers of privately placed notes issued by a number of investment trusts and asset managers
