Law360 (March 8, 2024, 9:35 PM EST) — “The U.S. International Trade Commission has decided that a Swedish manufacturer of air conditioners for use on boats doesn’t have a patent case against a handful of rivals based in Florida and China after all.
A notice published Thursday indicated that the commission had voted to clear a quartet of companies from allegations that the companies were importing products that infringe language in a patent owned by a Stockholm-based manufacturer called Dometic Group.
The company went to the ITC in 2022 with allegations targeting two Chinese companies, Shanghai Hopewell Industrial Co. Ltd. and Shanghai Hehe Industrial Co. Ltd., and two Florida companies, CitiMarine LLC and Mabru Power Systems Inc., of scheming to import “knock-off versions of [Dometic’s] industry-transforming inventions” in the field of developing “marine air conditioning systems” that are sold for use on boats,” reports Law360 journalist, Andrew Karpan.
