This new arrangement gives Gascon a reach with a network of top tier attorneys in markets where we currently don’t have a presence, as well as allows Rimon and its team to have strong backing in the growing Montreal marketplace,” said Nicolas Beaulieu, partner at Gascon.

Mr. Coppola represents bankers, financiers, film, television, gaming, technology, and web clients in entertainment law, tax and corporate law related issues. He also has significant experience in dealing with worldwide tax credits and structuring co-productions and ventures with Canadian, U.S., European, and Asian companies.

“I am very pleased to be taking on this new challenge with Rimon,” said Mr. Coppola.  “Our mutual passion for technology should be a great advantage moving into the post-Covid universe. My practice has always been international. Both the tax and the entertainment law fields are strengths that we can each build upon. Combined with Gascon’s excellent reputation as a Canadian law firm and Jon Mechanic’s multi-jurisdiction expertise we should be a great addition to the Rimon network.”

Mr. Mechanic advises his film and television producer clients, based in Canada, the United States, and Europe, on all aspects of development, financing, tax credit structuring, distribution, and errors and omissions and clearance matters.  He also represents both institutional and non-institutional lenders active in the entertainment industry, advising them on film and television financing transactions, including tax credit, pre-sales, debt and gap financing.  Mr. Mechanic acts as general counsel to many of his entertainment industry clients, advising them on employment, regulatory and corporate matters.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of Rimon’s launch in Canada together with Sam, where we will continue to grow our entertainment and media practice on an international scale,” said Mr. Mechanic. “Rimon represents a tremendous platform for me to continue my practice in entertainment and film financing transactions, as well as in all aspects of production Above all else, at Rimon, I look forward to doing great work with great people with shared values: A global outlook, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for innovation and creativity.”
