News January 17, 2020

Berlin– Leading international law firm Rimon Law welcomes Corporate attorney, Dr. Dirk Walter Hamann, as a Partner in its new Berlin office.

Dr. Hamann joins Rimon from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he worked as a Partner. Dr. Hamann previously worked as a Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was global co-head of the Energy & Natural Resources sector group.

Rimon’s Berlin office, along with the opening of two offices this month in Dubai and Sydney, marks the 30th location featuring Rimon attorneys. Last year, the firm expanded into Moscow, Warsaw, Baltimore, and Tucson. The firm won The American Lawyer Magazine’s the Recorder “Alternative Law Firm of the Year” award. Rimon has repeatedly been named by the Financial Times as one of the most innovative law firms.

Dr. Hamann advises both international and domestic companies and investors in M&A, corporate law and advising on corporate litigation, including international and domestic arbitration.

His work includes billion Euro deal transactions, representing individual medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, public municipalities in a number of sectors. He has also represented the Federal Republic of Germany in deals involving the defense sector, including drafting, negotiating and concluding the national security agreements in large scale transactions and advising Germany in the large aircraft manufacturing sector.

In addition to his representation, he is chairman of the Supervisory board of OKO-TEST AG, Frankfurt.

“After representing clients in some of the most important deals occurring over the last decade, Dirk has built one of the premier transactional practices in Germany. We are very pleased that someone with Dirk’s experience and existing practice sees the inherent value of our model of an entrepreneurial firm that allows attorneys to create innovative relationships with clients,” said Michael Moradzadeh, CEO of Rimon.

“Rimon has created a firm focused on making the practice of law more financially valuable for both attorneys and clients. The value of the entrepreneurial freedom that is the firm’s hallmark cannot be overstated. Most law firms and attorneys spend their time chained to systems like a billing-by-the-hour method that can result in an adversarial relationship with clients. Rimon promotes a flexibility that allows attorneys and clients to create a system that works for both sides,” said Dr. Hamann.

Dr. Hamann received his Dr. Jur summa cum laude at the University of Munster, where he was awarded the Harry Westermann Award as best legal dissertation and went to the University of Mainz.
