Rimon Law Group Steps Up Sustainability Efforts

Rimon Law Group announced today that it has named Lara Pearson as the firm’s first Chief Sustainability Officer. Rimon has been committed to environmental and social responsibility from its inception and this latest step further demonstrates Rimon’s commitment to preservation of the natural environment.
Ms. Pearson’s first task is seeing that Rimon Law Group meets each of the actions needed to participate in the ABA/EPA Law Office Climate Challenge within fifteen months. The ABA/EPA Challenge is designed for participation by individual law offices; in other words, a group of people operating from a single space. Because virtual law firms like Rimon have no central office, participation in the Challenge effectively becomes firm wide. Each of Rimon’s attorneys, who are located throughout the country and overseas, must participate in the Challenge, whether they work in formal offices or home offices.
Meeting the ABA/EPA Challenge involves participating in three EPA programs: (1) WasteWise for best practices for paper management; (2) Green Power Partnership for use of renewal energy / energy credits; and (3) Energy Star for adopting and energy management plan and aspiring to reduce energy use by at least ten percent. While Rimon’s current employees meet the criteria of these programs, Ms. Pearson must facilitate the expansion of these conservation practices to all of Rimon’s attorneys, employees and contractors alike, and each of their respective offices.
Prior to joining Rimon in February, 2010, Ms. Pearson was the Leader of the Law Office of Lara Pearson. A pioneer in law firm corporate social responsibility, Lara’s firm was the first Nevada law office, and the fifteenth nationwide, to meet the ABA/EPA’s Law Office Climate Challenge. Lara’s firm also was the first Incline Village, Nevada business to become certified under the Keep the Sierra Green program.
